Article "What is Consciousness?"

Consciousness means: awareness, alertness, wakefulness.

Transcendental Consciousness means: awareness of your own self-referral consciousness, which is a state of absolute silence at the source of thought.

Consciousness differs at different levels. When you're awake, you are aware of yourself and the world around you. When you're dreaming, you are aware of some reality, but it is a kind of hallucinatory state. When you're in a state of deep sleep, you are not aware of the world or yourself.

In order to be efficient and successful in life, you need to be aware of many things. You need to be alert, calm, intelligent, decisive, determined and focused to manage your life and to guide it into the direction you want.

It's not good to be drowsy, dull, forgetful or confused if you want to make progress in life. Your success in any activity depends on your clarity of mind, your alertness and your ability to stay on top of any situation.

Stress and fatigue are the enemy

Fatigue and stress directly influence your state of mind. They influence your alertness and wakefulness. You can't be dealing with situations easily when you're tired, or when you're stressed. If you're not at your best, you can't think straight, and anything you do in such a situation is likely to be unsuccessful.

Therefore, if you want to be most alert and conscious, you need to be without stress and fatigue. In order to get rid of stress and fatigue, you need rest.

After a good night's rest you feel good, your body has got rid of fatigue and your mind is brilliant and bright. Then you're able to make better decisions and you get lots of things done with ease.

The key to fulfill your ambitions and desires is therefore to have an alert mind, to have wakeful consciousness. Stress and fatigue are the enemy and the best way to get rid of them is to take rest.

Deep rest for great dynamism

You need deep rest if you want to be highly dynamic and successful in whatever you do. Deep rest cleans the body from fatigue and makes the mind function well. You're more consciously aware of what is going on and what has to be done, you're more in control of the situation.

Sleep is not enough

If you could have a technique to take deep rest, then naturally fatigue and stress would get released. Sleep is an excellent way of getting rid of fatigue, but it cannot keep you fresh and alert, brilliant and bright all day long. Most people aren't getting deep enough rest, especially in this stressful, fast paced life in which we live.

TM technique - taking deep rest

An extremely effective technique to release fatigue and deep rooted stress is the TM technique. It gives rest, deeper than the deepest sleep, to the mind and body.

This gives your body the chance to release deep rooted stresses and fatigue, which cannot otherwise be removed and the result is that you become more energetic and successful.

Gaining a deep state of deep rest is just one of the effects of the Transcendental Meditation. The practice of TM leads to the experience and integration of pure consciousness, absolute silence at the source of thought, into daily life.

Finding the home of all creativity and intelligence within

This source of thought, pure consciousness or Transcendental Consciousness, is the home of all your creativity and intelligence within. It is the source of all organizing power, the home of all the laws of nature.

This is Natural Law and once you start to experience this deepest level of existence, also called pure silence or self-referral consciousness, all your activities become more and more in tune with Natural Law.

Natural Law is governing everything in the universe in perfect order and when you align yourself with it through contacting this Unified Field at the source of thought, your life will naturally move in a more evolutionary direction.

Benefits of the experience of pure consciousness

Those practising TM experience that they have more energy and their intellect becomes sharper. They also report that they stay more on top of any situation. Their health improves and their relationships with friends, family and work colleagues improve.

In conclusion we can say that the experience of pure, Transcendental Consciousness is most fundamental to life. With Transcendental Meditation (TM), which is a natural, easy and effortless technique, you can experience this source of creativity and intelligence already from the beginning. That's why people practising TM often notice benefits like clearer thinking, better health and improved relationships even in the first days or weeks of practise.
